Miami, Florida and Caribbean Cruise
On Carnival New Cruise Ship Horizon
May 17th, 2019 through May 26th, 2019

Friday, May 17th and Saturday 18th, 2019 - fun days in Miami before getting on the Cruise ship on Saturday Afternoon

We were near both Downtown and the bay tourist areas so we spent two days walking everywhere we could.  My guess from looking at the mapping software, we did around 15 miles the first day and then around 13 miles the second day.  The architecture, food and scenery everywhere was awesome.

Saturday, 18th, Arriving on the Carnival Cruise Ship Horizon

The docks at Miami were very beautiful compared to so many other locations for Cruise Ships.  While we were leaving there was several remote control drones with cameras flying around the Horizon until we got a little bit out of the Port area.

A notable part of our first day at sea was a passenger had a life threatening problem, not caused by the cruise, that required the Horizon to head back towards Miami to be met by a Coast Guard vessel to receive the passenger.  The seas were very ruff and it took the coast guard vessel many attempts to pull along side the Horizon to receive the patient.

Wednesday, 22nd - La Roma, Dominican Republic

We took a water taxi over to one of the private islands for a relaxing beach day with some great food along with shopping.  The unfortunate part was the water taxi had to contend with some very choppy water for most of the ride to and from the island where several people had some troubles.
