Cigarette Lighter

When I was around 7 years old, we took a trip to New Mexico.  We hauled a mobile home behind our car with all the camping amenities.

Before we went, my brother David and I went went with Dad to the place where we bought the mobile home.  We where buying it with money sent by my uncle for whom we were going to eventually deliver it to.

While my Dad was finishing up the dealings with the salesman, me and David went and waited in the car.   Me and David became  intrigued by the funny knob on the dash board.  We pushed it in and pulled it out to see that is was red in the center.  I felt heat and showed David.  I asked him if he knew what is was for.  He didn't know.  I said do you think it is hot to the touch?  He said no, it isn't and that he had touched it once.

I then put the knob back into the dash board and pushed it to the place where it would eventually spring out.  After springing out, I picked it up and looked at the pretty red light.  I looked at David and asked him again if he knew it wasn't hot to the touch.  David said it wasn't, so I put my index finger onto the red light.   I immediately found out that the knob was very hot!  I yelled in pain and ran to my dad.  The cigarette lighter burned the skin off of the tip of the finger.  I remember on the trip we took, that I had problems playing many games not being able to use my right hand index finger.

I tell this story since there is so many stories about me teasing David.  Well on this one, he got me even though I know he didn't plan it.  It was simply one of those dumb kid things.
