Subcontracting

In the Computer and Accounting professions, workers often work for companies which place them out on jobs.  The companies take care of the billing and receive an over head on the billing rate per hour on the contractor.   For many years I worked from one contract job to another under companies described above.  I always stayed on the cutting edge of computer technology so I never worried about my next contract.  I also began to build my contacts and started to go directly to the companies and get work thus eliminating the "middle man."

Prior to getting my first direct work with World Gym and Performance Research Institute, I worked as a sub contractor to Continental Airlines and Mobile to name a few of the big clients.

I learned a great deal working at those companies.  At Continental Airlines, me and two others designed a software system to track the reported sales/tips of flight attendants and alcohol inventories based on flights.  We were then were able to build statistics to show probable cause of attendants who were possibly under reporting tips, alcohol sales and taking inventory.

The program cost Continental some $200K to build.  The job was my first experience in being able to view data about people I knew working for Continental.  With in a year of use, the software had paid for itself in increased revenues.
