We left Houston around 6:30pm and headed for Horseshoe Bay, TX where we stayed the night.

Friday, September 13, 2019 - Driving day to get out of Texas

Long day of driving from Horseshoe Bay, Tx to Albuquerque, NM.   Around 4pm, we were on a two lane interstate hi-way in the middle of farming land with not much in site when we got a flat tire, which turned out to be near Welch, TX.  I pulled the car over and was about to change the tire when a man and his wife in a truck pulled next to us and asked us if we need help.  I said yes and it turned out to be a gift of God.  The man's name was Royce and he was wearing a Trump Shirt which instantly made me know he could be trusted.  Royce's wife Lisa and Genia had a good time talking during the whole incident.  Royce got us to pull the car over a dirt road leading to a house of a friend of his named Mickey.  Royce then got on his phone and called a mobile tire repair service that came by and fixed the tire.  The experience probably took about an hour and was just a minor delay which was would have been a lot worse without Royce and Lisa stopping.  We exchanged phone numbers and addresses where Genia and I sent them a thank you card and a $50 gift card.

Monday, September 16, 2019 - Bryce Canyon, UT

We stayed the evening before at Ruby's Best Western Inn, with a view of the lake, which is literally down the street from the National Park.  We highly recommend this is the place to stay when going to Bryce Canyon because the Inn has a very large and wonderful souvenir center, full grocery store and two excellent restaurants.

Bryce Canyon was beautiful and the weather was perfect with a little bit of a chilly cold wind from the north.  We stopped at all of the great vantage points and walked around the top of the mountain at the top Canyon Viewing Area.

Tuesday, September 17, 2019 - Green River's River Terrace Inn, UT and Arches National Park, UT

The city of Green River is at the crossroads of many National Parks and major highways, so it a mecca for trucks and vacationers to fuel up and be on their way.  When entering the city, it can look somewhat old and industrialized, but there is an oasis there with the gorgeous and very romantic hotel called the River Terrace Inn which we would highly recommend to stay overnight or for a few days to travel to the National Parks like Arches National Park.

Below are some photos from the Inn's back courtyard which overlooks the river along with beautiful swimming pool with heated sitting pool.   We had a wonderful time sitting in the courtyard; and then swimming along with relaxing in the smaller hot pool.  The restaurant adjacent to the Inn is a must place to eat.

As we were driving to Carlsbad, NM, we stopped in Roswell, NM to have a little fun visiting the UFO Museum.  If you are interested in UFOs, then read this link on what UFOs are possibly.  As you may know, Roswell has the famous case in July 1947, which many believe is a cover up by Brigadier General Roger M Ramey and the Majestic 12 (MJ-12)   If you ever visit Roswell, there are several UFO museums but only one is worthwhile with all of the technical information and photos.

4 A proposed theory on a Interstellar Space Craft at the museum.  Popularized by Forbidden Planet, Day the Earth Stood Still (1945 release) and other movies is absolutely not tenable from the engineering drawing shown at the museum but none-the-less fun.

6 Genia standing at the exit of the museum

Friday, September 20, 2019 - Carlsbad, NM

We had fun day visiting Carlsbad Cavern, taking the full walk through the cavern.  The temperature inside is 56 Degree Fahrenheit which can be cold under normal circumstances but with all of the walking, we quickly found ourselves perspiring.
