Keith Montz College Graduation May 1988 from University Of Houston

Bachelors in Computer Science with Minors in Accounting, Math, Business and Management Information Systems

Two more semesters and I would have had five degrees.  Ask me if it was worth staying and the answer is absolutely not!

Some people have asked why it took me several extra years to get my degree.  Looking back, I was enjoying life in the early years at UofH with the Fraternity Life and working 25 to 30 hours a week at United Parcel Service (UPS).  At 23 years old, my father was transferred to Jacksonville Florida with Prudential so my parents were no longer near by, there was a break up with my Fiancée and the Fraternity life was no longer fun, all of which made me focus to finish my degree plans.  I continued working nearly full-time hours while going to college and increased my course options to possibly get more degrees.  At 27 years old, I had enough and was already working full time as a programmer, making a great salary, so I completed my degree plan and moved on.

Keith with friends: Ross Dargahi and Mike McClere

On the day of the last exam before graduating, me and Mike McClere met up at Denny's Restaurant for some breakfast.  When we were leaving around 8:00am, I saw a man walking across the parking lot who looked like Roy Orbinson.  I walked up and said "Excuse me sir, has anyone told you that you look exactly like Roy Orbinson?"  The man said "well 'yes' and that is because I am Roy Orbinson and who are you?" as Roy extended his hand to me to shake it in a warm greeting.  We ended up talking for about 10 minutes before he was picked up by a Limonene to get to Intercontinental Airport.  It turned out he was just stretching a little bit walking in front of the Hotel he was staying, which was next door to the Denny's.  Unfortunately, Roy passed on not to much longer in December 6, 1988.  I am a big fan and it was a great surprise getting to meet him.  Mike had no idea who he was at the time.  It was amazing how genuine and nice Roy was to talk with on that morning before the final exam.
