OF THE AFOREMENTIONED SHIPS, THE ONE WHICH BEARS most watching is the "La Garonne
(Fig. 3-1) as it is
which may have carried the German settlers to Louisiana, one of which was named, "Manz."
THERE WERE, CERTAINLY, OTHER SHIPS WHICH CAME FROM EUROPE TO the shores of Louisiana. It is important, however,
to remember that the lives of so many were given up to try and find and new way of life. Possibly for every
two ten emigrants leaving the shores of France, only two, or perhaps three ever lived to settle in a reasonable
way in Louisiana.
