Census, 1860: (St. John The Baptist Parish)
IN THE CENSUS UNDERTAKINGS BY THIS AUTHOR, AND BY THOSE FURNISHED by friends and
acquaintances written to and who responded, the following families and individuals
were found in the U.S. Census for the various years. St. John's Parish and St. Charles Parish was taken only as most
of the earlier generations of Montz families were raised there. This list is given as for the purpose
of good reading, and possibly as a source for any reader to make up his own family tree, using the
information furnished. The way this census was taken was strictly a door-to-door
knocking by officials and they found out how many people lived in each house, their ages, possible occupations, and other facts.
