Antoine Montz, who was a doctor and graduate of Tulane
University, New Orleans
Jacques Numa Montz, who operated a cooperage shop in Reserve, La.
Maurice Montz, who was chief of operations at a sugar plantation, in Lions, La.
Adolph Montz, an engineer on the railroad out of New Orleans, La.
Pierie Montz, an overseer.
Miss Rosa Montz, who with Miss Henri Montz and Miss Marie Montz, conducted schools
at one time or another.
Marie Montz, who was a school teacher.
Miss Ida Montz, who had a private school on the
property of Dana Montz.
A. Montz, who operated an ice factory and truck farm in LaPlace, Louisiana.
A.M. Montz, who was consul commander of the Woodsman of the World in 1912. He was
also chairman of the Board for LaPlace Gas and Fuel Company.
THE FACT TO BE DRAWN OUT OF THIS IS THAT NOT ONLY the occupations were all that important, but the fact that these
people did what they liked best, and lived in the same area for so long with their family. Family ties were
important then.
IT IS ALSO IMPORTANT TO KNOW THAT OF THE OCCUPATIONS THAT existed, so many of the Montz generations stayed with
their occupations for so long. My grandfather who start as a water boy in the fields of sugar cane at age 14,
retired as chief engineer for a plantation after over 57 years of service.

IN GOING THROUGH RECORDS PRESERVED IN LIBRARIES AND OTHER accounts acquired, it was shown that some Montz boys
served their country in the earlier wars of old. The War Rolls of the Confederate Army during the Civil War
