show 11 boys named Montz serving the Southern Cause
between 1861-1865. Most of these were discharged, and returned to Louisiana whence they came. Among
these were Alceste, Andre, and Homer Montz. Several names recorded could have been brothers or close
friends who enlisted together to seek adventure, or were called through draft rolls
THE BOOK BY M.J.B. PIERSON STATES THAT UNDER HIS LISTINGS, three persons by the name of "Muns" fought in the War
of 1812. They were a "Muns," who was a private, along with Andre and Antoine Muns, who were also privates.
It is interesting to note that the spelling of these names were different, but more than likely were of
our ancestry.
IT IS NOT KNOWN WHETHER OR NOT ANY SOLDIERS NAMED "MONTZ" OF "Muns," of some other derived spelling fought in the
Revolutionary War of 1776. However, because of the distances involved, it is unlikely that any saw any
part of this conflict.
THIS AUTHOR COULD NOT FIND ANY LISTINGS FOR THE SPANISH American War, and of course, there were many who fought
in World War I and II, but how many, and their names could not be determined.
